James C. Collins

James C. Collins, Senior Lecturer in Information Technology and Operations Management (ITOM), joined the SMU faculty in 1964, at the School of Engineering before moving to the Cox School of Business in 1972. Collins earned B.S. and M.S. degree from SMU. In addition to teaching, in 1984 Collins founded a consulting firm that specialized in developing information systems for small businesses. In 1985-1988, he served as vice president of manufacturing for Dowco Corporation. In 2007, he received the HOPE Award from SMU's Department of Residence Life and Student Housing in recognition of his "significant impact on student academic education both inside and outside the classroom". In 2010, he received the Distinguished Professor Award from the Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity. He retires as Faculty Emeritus of Information Technology and Operations Management.
